Politics and More

Let’s All Get Along!

I have found it a little humorous and a little sad that since the election, things seldom change in Washington. About a week before the election, President Obama on the campaign trail, I think in Rhode Island, made a very bold statement by saying, “The Republicans can come along for the ride, but they have to sit in the back.” That’s pretty much been the position of this administration since they took “total” control two years ago, after having owned both houses for the previous two years. Now the tables are turned and all of a sudden he is wanting everyone to come together and sing Kumbaya. As I often say, politicians are incredible creatures.

Republicans should not forget that every President that has lost a house in the mid-term election, has always been re-elected for a second term. That’s happened three times in the last century and those Presidents where Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower and Bill Clinton. I’m sure Mr. Obama is hoping history repeats itself.

Just A Provoking Thought:

Whether you’re pro-life or pro-choice, think this through.

NFL quarterback Michael Vick had his pro career interrupted by going to prison for fighting dogs…..some of which died.

If one harms the egg of an eagle, that person is in jeopardy of receiving huge fines and up to 5 years in prison.

If a doctor performs an abortion on a human fetus, he can then simply go to lunch.

So let’s re-cap this thought. You can go to prison for fighting dogs. A baby eagle growing in the mothers egg is protected….while a baby human growing in its mothers womb…..is not.

Startling thought to me!

One Of Those…..Do What??

As you might suspect, like many, I have followed and been intrigued by all the political musings for the past few months. I decided, just for the fun of it, to try and remember what I thought to be the most “lame brain” statement I heard along the way. After having many to choose from, I settled on this one.

Speaker Pelosi said, referencing to the Health Care bill, “We have to pass the bill so we can see what’s in it.” Do what??

The Spiritual Side Of Politicians:

When you think of politicians getting spiritual, can’t you just imagine their prayer to the Lord?

“Lead me not into temptation … I can find my own way!”

Recovery Accountability And Transparency Board:

Last Tuesday, VP Joe Biden was meeting with Earl Devaney, the guy in charge of the Transparency Board. His main job is to oversee where the stimulus dollars are being spent so the taxpayers can see where the funds are going, making sure they get their money’s worth. Sorry I have nothing to report on the meeting of the Recovery Accountability And Transparency Board … because that meeting was closed to the public and the press!

Who’s Making Money These Days?

Well it appears it’s our politicians. A study released this week by the Center For Responsive Politics, reported that personnel wealth among our boys and girls in Washington increased by more than 16% in the year 2008 through 2009. The study also showed that half of all members … 261 … were millionaires.

However, in contrast during the same time period, U.S Median household income dropped by 3%, the second straight decline according to the Census Department.

As they suffer trough on their $175,000 a year salaries with perks too many to number, along with the Cadillac of all Cadillac health coverage, they continue to tell us how they are looking out for us. I’m am so thankful for that!

Simple Thoughts For The Day:

Those who gloat in the pleasure of demeaning another should remember … A Camel Should Not Make Fun Of Another Camels Hump!

When your spouse ask you … A penny for your thoughts … and you put in your two cents worth … you’ve made a bad investment!

“I used to be indecisive but now I’m not so sure.” W.C. Fields. Anyone else ever feel that way from time to time?

My last thought of encouraging wisdom to you is this … Never mix sleeping pills with Ex-lax!

Until Next Time … America … Bless God!
